The Sleeping Goddess was found on the beautiful Mediterranean island of Malta at the Hypogeum, a subterranean temple structure dating back to the 3300 BC. The structure of the temple and huge goddess statutes testify to a matriarchal culture that worshipped the divine feminine. The Sleeping Goddess may have been an oracular figure whose dream state lead to healing and wisdom.
