Giant rabbits have invaded San Francisco's Civic Center in front of City Hall. Intrude is an installation by Australian born artist Amanda Parer. The statement from the exhibit reads:

 

Amanda Parer's edgy and ephemeral artworks explore the natural world, it's fragility and our role within it.
To the artist, rabbits are animals of contradiction. While they often connotate a furry innocence, rabbits are considered an invasive pest in the artist's native Australia, where they have caused a great imbalance to the country's natural and delicately balanced ecosystems since they were first introduced by white settlers in 1778. Through Intrude, Parer hopes people will thoughtfully consider how humans can change and dominate the environment.

I like this long view because it appears the rabbits have eaten their way to City Hall.

It's quite a sight for off-guard tourists and passing traffic.

New growth on the pollarded English sycamores have the appearance of being nibbled upon.
 

The rabbits are lit from within by LED lights and as night falls children can be seen running toward the spectacle.
 

Stretching to find food.

My visit to Intrude coincided with National Blue and Green Day on April 15 and there was an historic blue and green lighting display of San Francisco City Hall to recognize National Donate Life Month promoting organ, eye and tissue donation.

Intrude will be traveling throughout North America, making stops in Washington D.C., San Francisco, Toronto, New York, Houston, Los Angeles, Denver and Memphis:
