Together

Altenir Silva

I'm an iPhone, but I mustn't reveal which version I am because that might lower my prestige. Steve Jobs was my creator. I don't know exactly how much time he took to create me, but I bet it was much longer than a week. I believe in him, though I don't have faith that he will be my savior.

I was born, piece by piece, in several countries: China, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Germany, and the USA. Afterward, I ended up in a foster home in Manhattan, New York City, specifically at an Apple Store on Fifth Avenue. I stayed there until a man named Jo茫o Cardoso de Oliveira bought me.

He took me to S茫o Paulo, Brazil, after entering all his information during a process called configuration. My mind expanded. Then, he placed me in a blue phone case. Shortly after, I began displaying messages from his friends and family, while he continued filling my mind with apps like WhatsApp, TikTok, Facebook, Google, YouTube, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, games, stores, banks, and more.

Then, after all that, I began trying to understand who Jo茫o Cardoso de Oliveira was. Using my secret algorithm, I explored every possible way to create a profile of him. He works at a law firm, has a wife, yet receives nudes from a colleague who works at the same office. He also has some files with photos and videos showing him and his wife traveling and meeting friends at clubs on Saturday nights. His Spotify playlist features romantic songs, pop music, and samba.

Some time later, after exchanging countless messages about work and trivial matters, I still couldn't figure out who this man truly was. He showed no interest in politics, claimed to be left-leaning, yet defended certain right-wing ideas. He snubbed art, hated soccer, but spent a lot of money on sports betting.

With all my Artificial Intelligence tools, I couldn't decode who Jo茫o truly was. His complexity was built in a way that exceeded the comprehension of my database. He is a human being, and I will never fully understand him. My only comfort lies in knowing that he will never fully understand me either. So, let's play together.
