SET: Fifth Ave in New York City. Barnes and Noble bookstore. A man (42) walks out and collides with a woman (36) who was passing.

THOMAS

Lara?

LARA

Thomas?

THOMAS

How long?

LARA

10 years since we broke up!

THOMAS

You always come up with numbers. Remarried?

LARA

Yes! My husband is a commercial pilot! We have 2 children! And you?

THOMAS

I'm alone!

LARA

And your book? Finished writing?

THOMAS

I finished. But I can't get it published yet.

LARA

Don't give up! Well, I gotta go! Bye! Take care.

THOMAS

You too!

Each one exits.

Blackout.
